Booklook Terms of Use

Last updated: 14 September 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Peter Main ("we", "us"), who operates Booklook. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use Booklook. Contact: hello@booklook.io.

1. Who can use Booklook

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian agrees to these terms on your behalf.

2. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Tell us promptly at hello@booklook.io if you think someone else has accessed it. You must give accurate information and not impersonate anyone.

3. What you can do with Booklook

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in line with these terms and Apple's usage rules. You must not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or misuse the app or try to break its limits or security.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add — your reviews, notes, profile, avatar, reading lists and the like. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and share that content only as needed to run Booklook — for example, showing your public shelves and reviews to other readers you have not made private. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or that others have already saved (such as a public list someone followed).

You are responsible for your content, and you confirm you have the right to post it.

5. Objectionable content is not allowed

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You must not post, upload or share anything that is unlawful, sexually explicit, violent or graphic, hateful, harassing, defamatory, that infringes others' rights, that impersonates someone, that reveals others' private information, or that is spam. Our Community Guidelines explain this in more detail and form part of these terms.

We may remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that breach these terms or the guidelines. You can report content or block another user from within the app, and we aim to act on reports within 24 hours.

6. Booklook Pro and subscriptions

Some features are part of Booklook Pro, an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Complimentary Pro may be granted at our discretion and withdrawn at any time. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.

Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app, but may enforce them as a third-party beneficiary.

7. The service is provided "as is"

We work hard to keep Booklook running well, but we provide it "as is" and do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Book data comes from third-party sources and may be incomplete or wrong. Recommendations are suggestions, not advice.

8. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profit. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using Booklook and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or the guidelines, or to protect Booklook and its users.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make significant changes we will let you know in the app, and continuing to use Booklook means you accept the updated terms.
